Each of the gospels was written for a particular audience with a particular goal in mind. They are not biographical accounts. Mark is writing to the Romans and uses language they culturally understand: son of god and freedmen. Sermon Notes

Mark’s story is full of failures, shame, rejection, and second chances. But his story was redeemed, not just by God, but by Barnabus — an encourager. We all need a Barnabus in our life.
