Could Homosexuality be Genetic?

The first problem for the theory of genetic homosexuality is captured in the following question: "If gay genes exist, how would they perpetuate?" Homosexuals generally don't produce offspring, so they don't propagate their DNA. If a gay gene existed, there would be no means for it to replicate, and therefore it would not be able to survive through history.

The second problem is captured in the question: "Why would homosexuals have heterosexual reproductive equipment?" Male and female reproductive systems don't just "sort of" match; they are beautifully and wonderfully created to harmonize together in a way that screams "design!". The specified and irreducible complexity of all the component parts and systems that make up these systems did not happen by chance—they appear to be custom-made for man and woman to "become one flesh". By contrast, male homosexual behavior is terribly unhealthy for the human body in numerous ways, and the lessened lifespan of homosexuals testifies to this.

Now, some might argue "but they didn't choose their sexual orientation." However, there is a hidden premise in this objection. That hidden premise is "if one has a particular type of desire (lust), that particular type of lust must have a biological root." This premise is false. Consider all of the depraved act that some people commit, like bestiality. Does that have a biological root? The author Hunter S. Thompson once wrote about attempting to have sex with a piece of furniture. Did that have a biological root? A man was recently arrested in Europe because he was caught having sex with a bicycle in a hostel. Did that have a biological root? Obviously not. While environment may be a factor, people DO have some influence over the direction of their sexual inclinations. The fact that there are some individuals who were once homosexual, but who have changed their orientation to heterosexual provide further evidence of this.

Another piece of evidence against the notion of biological homosexuality is found in twin studies. In these studies, identical twins with exactly the same DNA (identical genetics) were studied in terms of their sexual orientation. In many cases, one of the twins would turn out to be heterosexual, and the other homosexual. This happened both when they were raised in proximity to each other, and when they were not, thus showing again that we have a primal influence over our own sexuality.

Quite a few Bible verses from both the Old and New Testaments show God’s position on this issue clearly. Genesis 19, Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, Deuteronomy 23:17, Judges 19:14-29, 1 Kings 14:24, 15:12 and 22:46, 2 Kings 23:7, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 Timothy 1, and Jude 1:7 All of these show that God does not approve of, nor did he create anyone with homosexuality. Jesus and the writers of the NT unanimously speak of, or list homosexuality as a “behavior” and not a “condition”. Being a widow or an orphan, or one's gender or race, is a condition. Drunkenness, stealing, lying, etc. are behaviors. And it is with these that homosexuality is listed. Jesus clearly endorsed the Mosaic Law, and the Sodom and Gomorrah account of the judgment upon sin, so His position on this issue is quite clear.

Homosexual behavior is a path to self-destruction. If you are struggling with this issue, I urge you to pray to the Lord about it with a open heart, Jesus loves you; yes, just the way you are… but He also loves you too much to let you stay that way. God describes the act of homosexuality as sinful behavior, and in the book of Romans 6:23 it says: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Our sin, any and all, will lead us to death, and most importantly, to eternal death. But, “the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” He can cleanse your mind and heart, and bring you a peace like you have never known. Give Jesus a chance. Open your heart to Him. We’d love to meet with you and pray with you if we can help you in any way. Just contact us. God bless you.

God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

The bible says a lot things. Take these two passages for example: Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior. (Titus 2:9-10) Slaves, accept the authority of your masters with all deference, not only those who are kind and gentle but also those who are harsh. For it is a credit to you if, being aware of God, you endure pain while suffering unjustly. If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, what credit is that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God's approval. (1Pet. 2:18-29) Clearly from these passages we can see that according to the bible, God does not disapprove of slavery, though in today's world I'm sure you would say that's not the case. Discrimination has been around since the beginning of time whether it's race, gender, economic status, or sexual orientation. And it's the self-righteous ones who have no qualms with judging others that tend to be first in line with the discriminating finger pointing. Consider this...What if God put such a diverse set of people on this earth to see how we'd respond?

Jose, If you'd like to get an accurate handle on what is referred to as "slavery" in the Mosaic Law, read the article at this link: http://www.christian-thinktank.com/qnoslave.html Regarding the verses you referenced, these were written after the Mosaic Law had been rendered inoperative (at the cross), and while these individuals were under the Laws of Rome. Paul commending us to “endure when you do right and suffer for it” does not mean that God endorsed the Roman institution of slavery, which is far different from the servitude allowed under the Mosaic Law, but rather it means that God wants us to accede to the laws of the land wherever we find ourselves (Romans 13), and through patient faith and forebearance, to demonstrate a living example of the hope that is within us. As Paul wrote (and as you quoted), “so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior”. Now going back to homosexuality, it was condemned as an abomination before, during, and after the Mosaic Law. It’s clearly unnatural, and there is no Bible verse that supports it. God would have to have a split personality to make anyone that way, and then to clearly condemn it in scripture. I don’t think God would contradict Himself that way, but the good news is that He is merciful to those willing to repent, and He can transform anyone back to His highest image for you—as His child with an awesome eternal future. One crucial requirement for that, is that you need to seek Him with all your heart, though. I pray that this is the destiny of all who are struggling with this issue. His best to you.

If God knew us even before we were conceived, and he planned for us to be born, why would there be a baby born with both male and female genitiles? It happens more often than we hear about. No wonder some people get confused with their sexuality and sexual orientation... how does that child feel growing up with a male part and breasts? Does the parents choose, or does the child choose to be a boy or girl? How can God let a baby be born with both genders? And how does a man take estrogen pills and cut off private parts to become the woman he knew he should have been born as? God doesn't make junk. God is perfect, so why does this person have a sex change? I'm sorry, I don't understand... I know that God created us from the dust of the earth... God is perfect, and he knew what he was doing when he created us, so how can we go against nature and believe loving the same sex is going to work? A couple with too much testostrone (spelling?) for instance, will create one person masculine and one feminine in the relationship. It happens because God created woman and man, Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. It goes against nature. There are just some questions that won't be answered because most homosexuals believe they are right, and they won't listen to christian logic. They believe they were born gay and that they will have to accept it and go with the flow. I believe prayer will take that lust away. God is good and he loves every one of us... he wants us to follow his commandments. We all are sinners. We all fall short of the glory of God. He wants us to read his word because it is THE TRUTH. No where in the bible does it say it's ok for same sex marriage. It does say however to love one another... we can love the person but hate the sin (As Pastor Waxer says). we are all sinners and we can love one another, pray for one another and let GOD change hearts. The closer you walk with Jesus, the more you will want to do what's right, In Jesus Name I pray this for you, Amen. Becka

I think the root of all imperfection is sin. The Bible refers to a law of decay that creation is under, which correlates to the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Mankind's meddling in various negative behaviors over the centuries also has polluted the genepool, and one result is birth "defects". We all have birth "defects"--some are just more obvious than others. Jesus was clear on this subject, that it's not due to specific sin that someone is born handicapped, but so that God's glory might be displayed through the situation. One way that might occur is when the folks around the individual treat them with love and dignity instead of with disdain for their condition. There are many other ways one can imagine. It seems to me that in the case of hermaphroditism (mixed genitals), there is always a chromosomal gender (either XX for female, or XY for male). I'm not positive on this, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. Ultimately, all Christians can look forward to the resurrection when we will be given new glorified bodies that have no imperfections. Praise God for this!!! For more on that, read 1 Corinthians chapter 15.
