Thinking of Visiting
It can be a scary experience walking into a new place where you may not know anyone. We understand the anxiety that going to a church for the first time might bring, and we want to be sure and make your experience one that is stress free and welcoming. Below, we have listed some of the most Frequently Asked Questions we get. If you have any others, please feel free to call the church office or email us.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Whatever you're comfortable in. Some people come to church in shorts and a t-shirt, while others dress in business casual, and occasionally you might even see a tie! There's no Biblical style of dress, so it's up to you. If wearing a sundress, you may want to bring a sweater or sweatshirt since the air-conditioning can be quite chilly at times.
Q: Will I have to say anything?
A: Nope! We want you to feel comfortable. We won't single you out in any way, except if you’d like, we would like to give you a lei so that people can make sure and introduce themselves to you. But that is completely up to you. When you come, you can feel free to sit back and enjoy the celebration.
Q: How will I find my way around?
A: We try our best to make sure that the first faces you see are smiling ones. We have greeters in the parking lot, on campus and at the auditorium doors who will be happy to give you a quick tour, help you check your kids into their classrooms, and help you find your way to a seat in the sanctuary.
Q: What about my kids?
A: We have an awesome ministry for your children during every service, from newborn through the fifth grade, called Club Love!
We provide a safe, loving place for your newborn through 18 months in the Nursery; we have a room for Runners, 19-35 months, complete with worship and lessons, toys and activities your toddlers will love. Children from Preschool, age 3, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, ages 4 - 5, and Elementary grades1st through 5th will enjoy age-appropriate teaching from the Bible, worship together and experience hands-on learning activities. Just so you know...because we care about the welfare of each and every child, all of our children's workers are screened through a process that includes reference calls and background checks. We will assign you a parent specific number and should your child or their teacher need you we will post your number on the main screen in the sanctuary, also providing a secure drop off and sign in system.
Q: What about jr highers and teens?
A: On Sunday mornings, they meet in the auditorium with the adults for worship, and then when worship is over, the Jr Highers go with our youth team, and team leader Mike Archibald. Your teens will build friendships with other students their age as they dig into their Bibles and study God’s word. They will also work off some energy playing crazy games and will definitely want to come back. There are also other Jr High and High School studies and activities during the week.
Q: Will I be asked to give money?
A: Nope. We do not pass an offering plate at any time during our services. Tithing boxes are located in the front lobby and at both sides of the auditorium next to the communion tables. They are there as a part of worship for those who are part of the body of Christ and understand the principle of tithing. You should never feel pressured to give money.
Q: What's the celebration service like?
A: Our celebrations begin with worship. We have a live praise band (with keyboard, guitars, drums, ukuleles, etc.) who lead us in fun, upbeat, contemporary worship. Then we have announcements and move onto the message! We may occasionally have the halau dance, the choir sing or a baby dedication just before the message. The messages are directly from the Bible, so if you have a Bible, bring it. If not, we have them available for you from our Ushers. When the message is over, once again, our praise band will lead us in another time of worship where you will see a lot of movement as people get up to take communion at the communion tables on each side of the auditorium and then return to their seats. Prayer team members are also on the sides ready and waiting to pray with those who may want prayer. The Pastor will come out one more time with closing comments and then we encourage those of you who can stay, to make your way over to the outdoor cafeteria area for lunch. Each week a different ministry is in charge of lunch to, both, raise funds for that ministry (donations accepted, but not required) and, most importantly, to give us a place to hang out and get to know each other better. We hope you decide to visit soon and then come to join us each week after that! And we hope that this time will become your favorite way to start each week and that you’ll even want to start joining us for Wednesday evenings!
